Hi Nerds!
I’m Paul. Professional Nerd, Visual Storyteller and proud Trekkie.
Now for 15+ years in business. Please have a look around and live long and prosper!
Let’s nerdify everything!
My passion for comics, movies, and the visual arts has always fueled my creative drive. I strive to infuse the same artistic vision and storytelling brilliance that I admire in these art forms into my own work. I enjoy sprinkling easter eggs throughout my artwork and crafting "director's cut-style" presentations, adding depth and intrigue to my creations.
My greatest achievements are convincing C-level bureaucrats to step out of their comfort zones and embrace their nerdiness. Talking about endbosses.
Edgar's words have always inspired me. Instead of aiming for a clean and polished design, it's much more fun to incorporate something quirky and create something unexpected. For instance, designing a flipchart run entirely with projection mapping or developing fully functional game shows made in PowerPoint. Adding a nerdy touch to something ordinary has become my trademark. Oh, and throwing in a quote from an amazing deceased poet always makes you look smarter.
Stats
These days, everybody claims they were "nerdy" as a kid, but you have to believe me, I was nerdy nerdy. I was obsessed with drawing Japanese robots and envisioning myself on the bridge of the USS Enterprise-D. My very first album purchase was "The Empire Strikes Back" because, even at the age of 9, I knew it had the best score among the Star Wars movies. I have always tried to infuse my artistic vision and storytelling with the same excitement from my childhood. It has been quite a challenge, especially in the German market, where being nerdy has been perceived as … well it’s the German market.
Five Star Wars movies ago, I founded my own underdog design agency named "Designerds," which has been running for six years. We cultivated a spirit of creativity, camaraderie, and geek-induced excitement. I’m not saying that our job interviews involved laser tag games, but they did. Together, we embarked on a mission to achieve something still uncommon in the German design market – generating authentic content by and for popular culture enthusiasts.
G2G. Geek to Geek.
We produced content for Nintendo at Gamescom and designed movie artwork for independent film distributors such as Third Window Films and Tonkatsu Film. In 2018, we merged with K16 – one of Europe's leading presentation agencies. I have been excited to work for K16 as a team leader and now as a Senior Visual Storyteller in a self-organized company. Our work spans across various areas, from story development to corporate design, conducting client workshops, providing speaker training, and delivering successful pitch presentations for small startups to high-end presentations for CEOs. Nevertheless, my primary focus has been on stage presentations, such as TED talks.
Embrace your inner child, and curiosity will never fade
Whether it's a new tool, technology, or an exciting show, I can't wait to dive in and learn. I love to experiment and learn as much as possible. I'm always thrilled when a new tool arrives and don't see it as a burden.
“Be yourself. No one can say you’re doing it wrong”
These wise words from Charles M. Schulz guide my life, and I appreciate the beauty of individuality and diversity in everyone.
